Valentina Bordenave

Founder of Unfold Method

An Argentinian dancer, choreographer and mentor based in Berlin. Certified in the Alexander Technique in 1998, Valentina holds a degree in dance from the Folkwang University of Essen, Germany. She is a member of the core pedagogical teams of the Familie Flöz theatre company and of Arthaus Berlin - Postgraduate Training and Research Centre for Devised Theatre and Performance. Further pedagogical activity includes the Inter-University Centre for Dance HZT Berlin, Acting Department at the University of the Arts Berlin and Hochschule für Schauspielkunst “Ernst Busch” Berlin. She also provides training to companies such as Sasha Waltz & Guest.


Valentina has been creating pieces since an early age, both individually and collectively with dancers, musicians, actors and visual artists. During her dance studies, she co-founded the “Giraffen am Hafen” dance collective and won first prize at the International Choreography Competition in Cagliari, Italy. In 2016, together with nine other actors and dancers, she co-founded the international Anderplatz Collective in Berlin, where she directed and performed. Her current choreographic and performance work focuses on present-moment composition.

Her artistic and pedagogical work has been particularly inspired by her studies with dance artists Julyen Hamilton, Hannes Langolf and Katie Duck, among others, and her Alexander Technique Teachers Nadia Kevan and Chris Stevens.
